Day in Seattle

Okay so I stink at this blog thing, but I am going to keep going and update when I get the chance or perhaps when something exciting happens?

Today, we had a great day, we had a fieldtrip scheduled at the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center ( http://ody.org/) with the homeschool group in the afternoon. So, we decided to head into Seattle a little early and go to the Pacific Science Center first
(http://www.pacificsciencecenter.org/ ), we haven't been there in ages. The kids all had a great time, one of the highlights was the bug exhibit. We would move from exhibit to exhibit and Austin kept wandering off, I could always find him standing in front on the HUGE talking bug by the entrance, he was completely fascinated with him. He ask a few times if the bug was going to eat him. hahaha We also liked the butterfly exhibit and watched them eat/suck the nectar out of flowers and fruits...very interesting! It was such a beautiful day, so the kids had a good time playing with the water shooters outside.
We then headed over to the Center house for lunch before going to Odyssey Maritime. If you have never been to http://ody.org/ and live near Seattle I suggest going and taking the kids, it was a good time, very hands on. The kids all loved it and asked if we could go back. We definitely will, but next time I think we will bring Pete along. The kids got to see a little of what Daddy does, with driving the cranes and such. The boys favorite things were playing in the water building a dam and driving the cranes, moving the cargo from the ships onto truck. I wish I could have taken some pictures, but I didn't remember by camera until we were on the highway.

After a day in Seattle we met up with my friend Linda (whom I met in our childbirth class with our first kiddos) and her kids. We are swapping kids for the night. She took the girls and I have the boys. The boys have just recently started having sleep overs and they have been going pretty good. Of course bedtime is always a little challenging, but they eventually get to sleep.LOL

Winter Walk to Valentines

Last night Steven had his first pinewood derby race for Boys Scouts. Wow, we were just amazed at how fancy this race is. The track has a photo sensor and calculates time and speed, much fancier then Pete and I were expecting, having never done Boy Scouts before. The cars kids made were really neat too, it was cool to see all the different designs.

Steven chose to make a Batman car this year and it turned out great. It wasn't the fastest car there (continually getting 5th, one time it got 4th), but he did get 1st Place for Best Design. That made him really happy since he was quite upset that his car didn't win any of the heats. The other boys were coming up to him and telling him how much they liked his car. It made him feel very proud.

Pete was really into it too and has already decided what type of car they will be making for next year

They are so tired. They had swimming and karate today and it just wipes them out!

Yes, it's day 10, I know I skipped a few, I really know how to count, but we have been busy and I didn't get a chance to post everyday.

Anyway it's day 10!

Tonight we did some science experiments with mixing colors. The first experiment was color mixing milk. The boys had made volcanoes out of paper mache a week or two ago and tonight they got a chance to make them erupt. They really had a good time doing it over and over and over, we went through one bottle of vinegar. Of course they had to bring in the food coloring we had been using in our mixing color experiment too. We had a great time!

I just had to post these pictures and tell you what a sweet crazy boy I have. Austin is hilarious, he is always saying funny things, making everyone laugh (even when you shouldn't). He seems to know when I get frustrated or I am feeling down, he will come and snuggle with me and then say something or make a funny face to cheer me up. He is quite the clown. We recently had pictures taken and there is one of Pete and I where we looking at each other and kind of touching noses. Well, Austin loves this picture and always says something regarding us (Pete and I) getting married. After looking at it for a while today he came up to my face and we were touching noses and he told me he was going to marry me. Awww isn't he sweet! Of course I tried to explain to him that I am already married to daddy and that someday he will find a girl that he wants to marry, but I couldn't convience him. Oh to be four again.
