What a great weekend!! A couple of weeks ago Pete had told me he was going to take me somewhere for my birthday (yesterday). I loved the anticipation, he doesn't often surprise me, so this was a real treat. Saturday, I took the kids to Gramma's and we headed out to the Lake Quinault Resort (http://www.lakequinault.com/). This is truly a lovely place, very tranquil and relaxing. We had stayed here about 6 years ago and it was just as great then as it is now.

We had dinner across the lake at the Lake Quinault Lodge, we had gone early and had some drinks and sat outside just talking and relaxing. It was so nice to just be able to talk without kids interrupting.

Sunday before we headed home we decided the drive around the lake and look for wildlife. About 15 minutes into our drive we spotted a herd of Elk in a field. We stopped and observed them for 10 minutes or so, then continued on.

As we drove along for a while hoping to find more wildlife, we came to a staight stretch were a few cars were pulled over. Pete looked over in the field and there were 2 black bears eating in the grass approx. 100-150 feet away. I just thought this was so cool, I had never seen bear in the wild. We took lots of pictures and stayed to watch them for about 20+ minutes.

Robin's Nest

About a month ago I discovered a robin's nest around the side of our house under Abby's bedroom window in the Rhododendron bush. It is quite low so I am surprise that she built it there. I quickly went inside to see if I could see inside the nest from Abby's window, and discovered that there were least 2 eggs. We were so excited. About 2 weeks ago they hatched and we discovered there were 3, oh they were so tiny and ugly. We have had the joy of watching them grow and mama bird feeding them, it has been a great experience. I have taken some pictures, but have yet been able to capture on with mama bird feeding them.

Missing a tooth

Mom: Oh finally your tooth came out. How did you loose your tooth?

Steven: Well, I was chewing on a piece of gum and I stuck it to a thumb tack in the wall and when I bit down on the tack my tooth came out.

Mom: (shaking my head and laughing) Really, where is your tooth now?

Steven: I don't know I couldn't fine it.

Mind you this is all when he was suppose to be in bed. I just had to shake my head. We still haven't found his tooth, which he is a little upset because he doesn't think the tooth fairy will come now. I guess, by all means she shouldn't since he was being naughty and not in bed! However, I don't think she is that mean. Hahahaha!
